What can I expect when I take Senokot® Laxatives?
Taking your starting dose of Senokot® Laxatives at bedtime usually provides overnight relief of constipation. But sometimes, and especially if you are experiencing medication induced constipation, you may need to take an additional dose. Refer to the Senokot® Laxatives package for dosing instructions. Whenever you are unsure about what to do, please call your physician or pharmacist for advice.

Can children take Senokot® Laxatives?
Children age 2 and older may take Senokot® in tablet form. For children under two years of age, consult a doctor. Refer to the recommended dosages outlined below — and on the package — and consult your healthcare provider if you have questions.

Can seniors use Senokot® Laxatives?
Senokot® Products provide seniors with comfortable overnight relief of their constipation. Both Senokot® Tablets and Senokot-S® Tablets are small and easy to take.

Why did my doctor/pharmacist recommend Senokot® Laxatives with my new prescription?

Constipation is a side effect associated with over 150 prescription medications. If you need to take one of these medicines, your doctor or pharmacist may recommend that you take Senokot® Natural Vegetable Laxative Ingredient Products to avoid this bothersome side effect.

Always provide your doctor and pharmacist with a complete list of prescription and nonprescription medications you are currently taking. That way they can help you avoid drug interactions and constipation.

Also, if you are already taking a medication and have become constipated, you should not stop taking your medication. Instead, notify your physician or speak to your pharmacist. They may recommend Senokot® Laxatives to help gently relieve your constipation while you continue to take your prescribed medications.

Why did my doctor suggest I use a laxative with a stool softener?
Your doctor is experienced. They know that when you are suffering from "hard dry stools" or "painful evacuation," you may need a product such as Senokot-S® Tablets, which combines an effective stool softener — docusate sodium — in combination with a laxative to both soften your stools and stimulate evacuation. This dual-action is often helpful — especially when your constipation is a side effect of certain medications.
